I first visited Costa Rica in 2003 on vacation as a "snowbird" escaping the frozen grip of winter in my hometown of Chicago. I came back in 2004 and decided I wanted to live here. It didn't take much. I formulated a property management business plan with a local hotel owner in Playa Hermosa and moved here permanently in 2005. I've never looked back. The weather, people, culture, natural beauty, and "pura vida" lifestyle here in Costa Rica have been life-changing for me.
Property Management eventually led me into real estate and in 2007 I joined Better Homes Real Estate as a 50% owner. In 2009 I left my position with Better Homes and started a digital marketing company, Paradise Social, providing my clients with WordPress website design, along with online and related marketing for local small businesses. I was a Freelance Marketer years before working remotely became fashionable. And I continued to maintain ties with the real estate market and professionals ever since.
In my prior Chicago life, I was a registered architect in the State of Illinois working on large international education, healthcare, and transportation projects for Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Perkins & Will. My 25 years of professional knowledge of design principles, construction means and methods, construction administration, and online collaboration is an added bonus that I provide to all of my clients.
I joined the Tres Amigos Realty Group team in 2023 because, frankly, we're the best in Guanacaste. And I've always liked playing for the best team. I'm honored to be a part of the family. My nearly 20 years of living here has given me a profound familiarity and understanding of this region of Costa Rica and all it has to offer just about anyone from anywhere. I can streamline the ins and outs of investing in and owning property here for all of my clients.
I'm married to a "local girl" from Playa Hermosa. We have a son and a daughter who were both born here and have dual USA/CR citizenship. I can't think of a better place for a kid to grow up! I've always loved nature and you'll rarely find me indoors. I'm a tree-hugger - literally. I have 25 different varieties of fruit trees I tend to on our property here in Playa Hermosa. I also enjoy growing chili peppers, veggies, and herbs. It's all about the outdoors here. It's just another room. Photography is one of my creative outlets. Running barefoot on the beach in the mornings is my church.
